Back, Neck, And Shoulders- 1 Hour • 1½ Hour

Want to forgo the full body massage and pay extra special attention to your upper and lower back pain, shoulder tension, or stiff neck? This back, neck, and shoulder massage targets all the places you typically hold the most tension!

Bad posture; sitting bent over a desk, cramped over a computer, or hunched over a steering wheel; emotional trauma and heartache; as well as allergies and illness such as asthma or bronchitis, can all cause strain and tension in the neck, shoulders, and back. These areas are prone to stiffness and accumulate tension due to chest muscles shortening and contracting causing the muscles in the upper back to become overstretched resulting in rounded shoulders and tight inflexible muscles in the neck and upper back.

This restorative, integrated back, neck and shoulder massage will help relieve muscle aches and pains leaving you feeling more relaxed with a noticeable improvement in flexibility of shoulder joints and a greater range of movement of neck muscles. Starting with the lower and upper back, moving on to the shoulders and pectoral areas, and finishing with the neck, you will feel immensely relaxed and your muscle tension greatly diminished. Recommended as supplemental care in between regular full body massage appointments.

Pure Relaxation- 1 Hour • 1½ Hour

A classic Swedish massage generally using light to medium pressure to increase circulation, relieve superficial muscle tension, calm the mind and reduce stress.  If your looking to just relax and to let your mind drift away from your busy life, this massage is for you. I use classic Swedish massage techniques (broad, long, continuous strokes) to ease away your stress and tension. This massage is perfect for those that are looking for a gentle, soothing massage with lighter pressure that typically does not linger over knots, or delve too deeply into soft tissues. Creates total relaxation and promotes an overall sense of well being.

Heated Stones- 1½ Hour

A form of Thermotherapy, this exotic treatment incorporates heated basalt lava stones that have been tumbled and polished smooth by the ocean’s ebb and flow. Muscle tension literally melts away as the deeply penetrating heat from these velvety stones is glided slowly over the body with rhythmical strokes. Sedates the central nervous system imparting calm, quiet focus and deep relaxation. Induces gentle deep tissue release, increases circulation, and helps alleviate mental stress. Encourages a deep sense of well being and alignment between mind and body. Wonderful for stiff, overworked muscles, joint pain, arthritis, and nervous tension.

*Please reserve your heated stone service well in advance since stones require several hours to reach optimal temperature. Please be aware that I may not be able to do two heated stones sessions in one day as the stones need to be cleaned, sanitized, and reheated for each client.

Deep Tissue Bodywork- 1 Hour • 1½ Hour

This is not the “deep tissue massage” offered at most day spas. Deep Tissue Bodywork is intensive, soft tissue manipulation that is accomplished very slowly, usually without oils or lotions (or very little), and focuses on specific muscle groups (commonly the upper back and shoulders, or low back and hip areas) with a clear intention and strategy. Each session is not a full body session. Intense bodywork done in such a way as to encourage the  body not to react defensively during the session. Encourages the release of deeply held patterns in muscle tension, trapped nerves, muscular adhesions and connective tissue restrictions. Helps to relieve chronic muscle pain and dysfunction (due to age, repetitive overuse, postural habits, emotional and physical stress or trauma); assists injury rehabilitation and recovery; helps to restore structural alignment; helps to break down scar tissue and restore mobility in the body’s fascia (the thin sheath of connective tissue which surrounds every muscle, organ, and cell in the body). Removes toxins. Re-educates, lengthens, and encourages muscles to operate at full capacity.  It is both corrective and therapeutic.

Active communication between client and practitioner is required throughout the session. Techniques require patience and involve a very slow “sinking” through to the deeper layers of muscle and waiting for the tissues to “melt” (the softening of connective tissues).  Sessions may include soft/connective tissue warm up techniques, Thermotherapy, specialized stretching (Neuromuscular Therapy, PNF & AIS Stretching); Active/Passive Joint Movement; Myofascial Release (a series of sustained compressions and direct deep pressure following or going across contracted muscle fibers, tendons and fascia); Deep Tissue Sculpting using fingers, thumbs, elbows, knuckles or forearms; and Trigger Point Therapy.

The depth and pressure of the work is always kept within each client’s individual tolerance limit. I will never ask you to tolerate any discomfort other than that which you deem as necessary. The client is always in charge of the amount of pressure delivered in any session, at any time. Your feedback during and after each session is very important. *Recommended as a series of sessions.
